They looked very good. That forecheck is amazing. So much pressure and they are so fun to watch.

it's just one game and already people are saying this team is good.... one game alone doesn't make a season....

and let's see how the kings respond.... sorta like how the dodgers lost the ace.... quick is the kings ace goaltender... (sorry bay area fans, with the giants out and all)

I think it also has to do with how they performed last year. They were good last year and they look like they're going to be good this year.

Their forecheck reminded me a lot of the Kings forecheck circa 2012. Combine that with how slow some Kings played (foot speed as well as mental speed - ie Dustin Brown's brain dead drooling self looking for an outlet while standing still and having the puck picked right off his blade, 2x!) and you have a recipe for disaster. It was still a tie game until a blown assignment on Burns allowed him to drop to the hashmarks unchecked. I'll take it. Kings are still feeling out their combos. Pearson will be back next game and Brown should be off the top line starting 5 minutes ago.

I don't think it was a "Sharks are good, Kings suck" statement. Obviously the Kings don't suck. You've got some injuries to deal with already and some depth issues, but the Kings system is still tough for most teams to beat.

Having said that, I do think the Sharks are going to be very good this year. So far the team is healthy, we made some significant upgrades and still have a potential top 6 player coming sometime this season in Meier, which would allow the Sharks to move Hertl down to 3C. I also think the Boedker, Couture, Donskoi line is going to give teams fits this year. So much skill and speed on that line it's not even funny.

Unfortunately Jonathan Quick sustained a lower-body injury making a save late in the first period. The Kings are saying the injury "doesn't look good." I know the Kings are not loved around these parts, but I hate seeing one of our games biggest stars going down with a significant injury. Tough blow for the Kings.

classy statement.

sharks looked really solid, the game wasn't as close as the score would indicate. plenty of sandpaper and extra curricular greetings after the whistles, as if to remind us they still dont like each other.

as for the pk, really the only error i saw was two sharks trying to pen in kopitar; his "pass" to toffoli was really just the puck squirting loose, it wasn't tape to tape. if that's your biggest concern, that's not a bad thing.

Browns response to the sharks fast game was shameful. I love the guy and what he has done......albeit quite a while ago, he looked terrible. Sharks looked pretty sharp for a game 1.
I try to ignore it but I'm coming to terms with the fact that Burns is a bad ass offenseman.....even if he is paired with a d man everyshift.
